Intrigue and romance in Art Deco England
The Queen of Crime plumbs the recesses of the human heart in these five tales of mystery and murder, passion and peril, suspense and the supernatural.
In these stories, lesser-known Christie protagonists find themselves the victims of false accusations, embroiled in illicit love affairs, torn between duty and desire, and under the thumb of employers with questionable motives. These classic adaptations are Christie at her best, now on DVD for the first time.
The superb ensemble casts include Amanda Redman (New Tricks, Sexy Beast), Ralph Bates (Dear John, Poldark), Stephanie Cole (Doc Martin), Cherie Lunghi (Secret Diary of a Call Girl), Christopher Cazenove (The Duchess of Duke Street, Dynasty), and Rupert Everett (My Best Friend's Wedding).

THE STORIES
Magnolia Blossom: An unhappy wife tries to escape her marriage.
The Mystery of the Blue Jar: A young man consults an expert on the paranormal.
The Red Signal: A séance foretells of sudden death and danger.
Jane in Search of a Job: An Englishwoman takes on a dangerous assignment.
The Manhood of Edward Robinson: A henpecked fiancé sets off on the drive of his life.

Episode 1: Magnolia Blossom
Trapped in a marriage of convenience, Theodora Darrell falls into an unexpected romance. Torn between the man who loves her and the husband who needs her, Theo searches for the freedom she so desperately desires.

Episode 2: The Mystery of the Blue Jar
Puttering around the links, a golfer repeatedly hears female cries of "Murder! Help! Murder!" But when he investigates, he can find nothing amiss. Why can't the woman at the nearby cottage hear the cries? He turns to an expert on psychic phenomena for help.

Episode 3: The Red Signal
An elderly gentleman is shot dead after attending a séance foretelling imminent danger and death-the dreaded "red signal." Suspicion falls on the man's nephew, who was recently disinherited for admitting that he loves his best friend's wife.

Episode 4: Jane in Search of a Job
Desperate for work, a young Englishwoman takes a job posing as a double for a visiting duchess. She's undeterred by the potential danger, but her policeman friend feels less sanguine about the whole affair-and he may have cause for his concern.

Episode 5: The Manhood of Edward Robinson
Although he should be saving for his wedding, when meek Edward Robinson wins the lottery, he buys a sports car and takes off on a journey. A case of mistaken identity later, Edward finds himself in the midst of a grand adventure.
